We’ve had a lot of conversations with clients over the past few months about the Medicare re-validation. As many of you know, Medicare is asking providers to re-submit their credentialing information between now and 2013. When you get your letter from Medicare PLEASE read it completely and act on it swiftly. The way that the first paragraph is worded, it creates the initial impression that you have plenty of time to respond. This is not the case. Letters that our clients have received usually say (on closer inspection) that a response is required within 60 days of the date of the letter. 60 days.

While the letter indicates it’s possible to request an extension, it seems that the smartest move is to get the information to Medicare swiftly so you can avoid the possibility of having your Medicare eligibility lapse. Especially if you count on Medicare as a revenue stream, it’s just not worth the risk of having anything go awry.
