CASA is a national program founded in 1977 which uses trained community volunteers to speak for the best interests of abused and neglected children in court.  The Northern Essex County CASA program has been in existence since 1991, working on behalf of these children to give them a voice and improve their lives.  Children who have been assigned CASA volunteers tend to spend less time in the foster care system than those who do not have CASA representation.  Judges have observed that CASA children also have better chances of finding permanent homes than non-CASA children.  CASA helps children receive needed services that an overburdened social service system sometimes fails to provide until CASA calls attention to the oversight.

The New England Classical Singers (David Hodgkins, Artistic Director) is  a regional auditioned chorus comprised of serious singers dedicated to presenting quality performances of classical choral music for personal and community education, awareness, and enrichment.   Based in Andover, the 30 member choral group is comprised of vocalists representing 15 area towns, with performances which draw audiences from the entire Merrimack Valley and beyond. The group performs three concerts during the season, and have also performed in various churches in the area.  In addition, their outreach program includes caroling at Nursing Homes and Elderly Facilities, and a coordinated performance with the Lawrence High School Girls Ensemble. Their repertoire includes classical choral works as well as gospel, jazz and contemporary selections.
